Terms of Service
Last updated: 26 September 2026These terms govern your use of the Xerter website and the purchase of travel insurance plans through it. By using the site or completing a purchase, you agree to these terms. Please read them alongside the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
1. Who These Terms Are With
These terms are between you and Xerter GmbH, incorporated in Germany ("Xerter", "we", "us"). By accessing or using this site, you accept these terms in full. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site.
2. Our Role as an Insurance Compiler
Xerter compiles and compares travel insurance plans from multiple third-party insurance companies so you can choose the one that fits your trip. We are a broker/comparison service, not an insurer. When you purchase a plan, the insurance contract is between you and the insurer that issues it, and that insurer's own policy terms, exclusions, and claims process govern your coverage.
3. Eligibility
You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction to purchase a plan through Xerter, and the information you provide about yourself and any travelers on the application must be accurate and complete.
4. Quotes, Pricing & Coupons
Quotes are calculated from the trip and traveler details you provide and are indicative until you complete checkout; the final price is confirmed at the point of payment. Coupon codes, where offered, are subject to their own conditions and may be limited, modified, or withdrawn at any time without notice.
5. Payment
Payment is processed by our third-party payment provider; by completing a purchase, you authorize the corresponding charge. We do not store your card details. Refunds, cancellations, and any cooling-off period for the insurance policy itself are governed by the issuing insurer's own terms, not by Xerter.
6. Certificates & Verification
Once payment succeeds, we issue an insurance certificate for your policy, accessible via the link and certificate number we provide. The certificate-verification page lets a third party (such as an embassy) confirm a certificate is genuine and active by entering that number.
7. Your Responsibilities
You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you submit - inaccurate traveler details or undisclosed pre-existing conditions can affect your coverage or a future claim with the insurer. You agree not to use the site for any unlawful purpose or to attempt to interfere with its normal operation.
8. Intellectual Property & Third-Party Links
The Xerter name, logo, and the site's content and design belong to Xerter GmbH or its licensors and may not be reused without permission. The site links to third-party resources - including insurer sites and travel-guide partners - for your convenience; we don't control and aren't responsible for their content.
9. Liability
Xerter facilitates the comparison and purchase of insurance plans but isn't a party to the insurance contract itself, and isn't liable for an insurer's coverage decisions, claim outcomes, or service. To the extent permitted by German law, our liability for the operation of the site is limited to cases of intent or gross negligence, except where liability arises from injury to life, body, or health.
10. Governing Law, Changes & Contact
These terms are governed by German law. We may update these terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. If you have questions about these terms, contact us at support@xerter.com.
